My life took a sudden turn for the worse financially a few months ago and I was without a place to live. In addition, I had contracted the flu which without treatment, became pneumonia. I had reached out to Project Lorenzo, by referral through my church. The first order of business was a huge hug and a constant reassurance from Julie and Lisa that there was hope and help. They were committed to helping me get on my feet again. I trusted them and their plan for me made sense.
I began to have hope and confidence again as I went on job interviews. One of those interviews hired me right away. Through Project Lorenzo, I was able to secure housing and am a full time employee at a very prestigious company in Dallas. I am so grateful to Project Lorenzo, Julie, Lisa and the whole team. My gratitude cannot possibly be contained in words...but a huge hug would!
Love you Project Lorenzo!❤️ Elaine
Lorenzo, who has been living in a tent under the high-five for the past 25 years, finally has a place to call his own. We were overwhelmed with joy as we helped him move into his very own apartment. This moment was especially meaningful for Armando and his mom, Gina, who have been bringing food and supplies to Lorenzo for the past 18 years.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Metrocare Services, CitySquare, and Housing Forward NTX for their help in making this dream a reality. We are thankful for their dedication to ending the cycle of homelessness, and we are proud to join them in this fight.
A huge thank you to CoServ for the donation of computers for our Computer Skills Certification Program. Thanks to CoServ's generous donation, we can now extend our program to even more centers and help more people learn a skill to earn a livable wage.
We began our Computer Skills Certification Program in January at In My Shoes, a home for pregnant women experiencing homelessness. We're so proud of the dedication and hard work of these women - in fact, three of them are almost finished and ready to start interviewing for jobs in UX Design and Digital Marketing!
We are so honored to be selected as one of 3 finalists out of 67 applicants for The Dallas Foundation Pegasus Prize. The $10,000 prize helped us start our program of bringing computer classes to people in recovery centers.
Armando Parrish was only 16 when he founded this nonprofit to raise money to help people currently living on the streets. Besides helping with funding while transitioning to permanent housing, we provide Google certification training and other IT skills training, mentoring, and job placement services for people experiencing homelessness. We partner with homeless recovery centers to identify individuals who are ready for our program. We also work with local food banks to deliver food directly to people living on the streets.
Check out our founder, Armando Parrish, and Kelly Condy on the Kidd Kraddick Morning Show talking about the music festival we had on August 13, 2022.
This is Lorenzo. I do not know his last name, but what I do know is that he has been living underneath a bridge located near highway 75 in Dallas, Texas for 20+ years. I have seen him through the worst of times, and I am done seeing him struggle. The basic necessities of life that have been denied to him are the ones we waste without a second thought. As humans, it is our duty to take care of our own flock, and Lorenzo is part of that flock. Not just Lorenzo all of the homeless men and women who are denied the basic rights of a human being.
I know this is a hard year on all Americans, but I ask you from the bottom of my heart to donate anything you can. He has struggled far more than any of us could even begin to imagine. With this money, he could live in an apartment for a year, clean up his teeth, go to a doctor, get in touch with his family, help others, and apply for a secure job to continue an upward, positive trend in his life. Lorenzo needs these funds as soon as possible so he can get his life back on track. He just turned 63 years old, and is still living under a traffic-polluted bridge in Downtown Dallas. All he has that keeps him going is the Lord, and that alone is what keeps his positive mentality. The only true path to happiness is by helping others and becoming a humble servant, and Lorenzo has been helping others even as a homeless man who has nothing else to offer. Absolutely anything helps. Thank you and God Bless.
